Relay for Life | Peters Township Photographer

This weekend marks the 6th Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Peters Township. It is a weekend-long fundraiser that raises awareness, celebrates life, and remembers those that have lost their fight against cancer. Members of my Mothers & More group were part of this event, with a booth, games, and fun for everyone! The theme was “Movies” and the group selected Grease! There was Pink Lady Lemonade, hoola-hooping, and pictures with Danny.

There were lots of fun events during the day, but at 9pm it was a time to remember. The track was lined with luminarias with the names of loved ones fighting cancer or in remembrance of those who did. As the bagpipes played and the names were read aloud, you couldn’t help but be deeply moved. Cancer is an illness that has touched all of our lives, so if you can, give back to the American Cancer Society – volunteer, fundraise, donate.

This is one of my favorite photos, it’s not the photo but the meaning in the word. For all of us that have been touched by Cancer, HOPE is the light in the dark. It is what gets you through the worry, hours of chemotherapy, the pain. It makes us get to the next minute, hour, day. The American Cancer Society and Relay for Life gives us Hope.
