This is a day that is very special to my family. We used to celebrate with bar-b-ques, fun with family, games. We still do, but the meaning behind it is so much more important. I am proud to say that my husband fought for our country in Operation Iraqi Freedom – leaving only 3 weeks after our first son was born. So, today I give thanks for the strength that my husband had to be in the desert, away from his newborn son, taking care of sick soldiers, for living through that experience. I give thanks and remember those who have fought in all conflicts to make this country what it is. It doesn’t matter what side of the aisle you are on today, it just matters that we thank and remember those that have given so much.
