Before the Session

A pre-session consultation is highly recommended to discuss ideas, expectations, clothing, location, and potential props.  This will enable us to create and capture the images that you will love.

What to Wear – The most asked question!

Answer: keep it simple…we don’t want the clothes to create distractions and detract from your child’s beautiful face. It’s also important that the clothes be comfortable. If your child does not feel good in their clothes, it will come through in the photos. Kids are kids, they don’t do well with being tied down or told what to do for long (if any) periods of time. So, we take breaks, we get active, we do what we need to make your child feel comfortable and get a great smile.  Your child may be running, rolling on the ground, jumping in the air…so beware, the clothes may getting dirty:-)  You might want to bring an additional outfit for a different look, or layer the outfit so we can take off a sweater and have a different shirt underneath.

What to Bring

Things that will make your child happy – snacks, drinks, toys – these items will make your child feel at ease.

Things that are meaningful to you and your child – a special blanket, stuffed animal, a favorite chair, your mother’s favorite doll.  This will create an image that you will cherish.

Location, location, location!

Most sessions take place outside at locations such as the park, playground, or your back yard.  The best time for photo sessions are usually in the morning or late afternoon to take advantage of the beautiful natural light. We’ll discuss the look you’re going for and I’ll provide some ideas and suggestions for a location.  I’m always looking for a new, unique location so if you have any ideas just let me know!

Newborn sessions take place from the comfort of your own home (who wants to go out with a newborn?!). All we need is good window light and we’re good to go.

After the session

Photos will be available 14 business days after your photo session. Your images can be viewed from the comfort of your own home via a password protected online gallery. Take time to look at your photos in color, black & white, or sepia tones, make a favorites folder, and place an order. It’s that simple! Feel free to share your password with family and friends.  The online gallery will be active for 30 days, after which will images will be archived and a $75 repost fee will be applied.  Your portraits are a special investment, as such I use only the highest quality professional labs.  Please allow 14 business days for delivery of your photo order. It is my highest priority to provide excellent customer service from our first phone call to the delivery of your photos.
